Mission Statement

Since 1998, the Symi Symposium has brought together a select group of politicians, academics, activists, and opinion leaders from around the world for a singular purpose: to develop innovative, progressive solutions to global challenges. Conceived and hosted by former Greek Prime Minister George A. Papandreou, the Symi Symposium is held each summer on a different Greek island or at a seaside location. Removed from professional constraints and formalities, its distinguished participants have the opportunity to explore creative ideas, exchange best practices, and forge substantive partnerships. The fruits of these deliberations continue to have a profound impact on progressive politics and values-based leadership worldwide.
